Thomas Bayrle

Thomas Bayrle

13 September–10 November 1996

Thomas Bayrle's solo exhibition focuses on the perception of social phenomena. His works are influenced by the Pop Art movements of the 1960s, and the confrontation of the individual with the masses runs thematically through his entire oeuvre. Bayrle translates these mass phenomena into his artistic concept and at the same time formulates that in this mass the individual does not get lost but gains in complexity and personal responsibility. In the exhibition in St.Gallen, the dialogue between his early works from the sixties and seventies and an intensive examination of the medium video, which has been going on for several years now, shows the strong topicality of his artistic approach.
