The public art competition «Heimspiel» («Home Game») takes place every three years and provides a comprehensive insight into contemporary art from the cantons of St.Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Glarus as well as Liechtenstein and Vorarlberg with a broadly based exhibition. The Kunsthaus Glarus is participating as a new exhibition venue alongside the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, Kunstmuseum St.Gallen, Kunsthalle Appenzell and Kunstraum Dornbirn. For the first time, the curators of the respective institutions are developing the exhibitions without an external jury.
In the context of Heimspiel 2021, Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen brings together selected works that negotiate the production and imagination of space. Instead of thinking the space only from its physical boundaries that enclose the exhibited works, the invisible conditions are brought into focus. In the investigation of interdependence between architecture and subjective physicality, as well as spatially organised relationships, the works expand the understanding of space by adding a social, political and aesthetical dimension.
The Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen presents Works by Sarah Bechter, Damiano Curschellas, Anna Diehl, Dorothy Wong Ka Chung & Benjamin Ryser (o!sland), Susanne Hefti, Katrin Hotz, Patricia Hämmerle, Reto Müller, Cheyenne Oswald, U5 and Juliette Uzor.
